So you’ve been doing some SEO to optimize your website for some of the top keywords in your niche, yet despite reaching page one for those results, you still haven’t experienced a huge uptick in traffic. Why not?

It may be the terms you’ve chosen. A new study indicates you can increase traffic from organic search engine results by choosing keywords that are relatively cheap in terms of Adwords costs. In other words, research what a keyword is selling for in Adwords, and then decide whether or not to perform SEO for that keyword based upon the price of the keyword.

For example, gaining the #1 position in the organic results for a keyword that costs more than $1.50 per click yields a 37.3% clickthrough rate, while the same #1 position in the organic search results for a keyword that costs 25 cents or less is a whopping 87.5%.
